Alta Health Centre
Alta city centre is dominated by larger compact buildings whilst smaller detached houses are spread around the core of the city. The building is placed in the junction between these two areas with the urban area on the west side and small houses on the east side. The final proposition is a result of these two essences by combining the machine of the city with the humane scale of the surrounding houses.
Three main volumes are placed in the north-south direction to make an efficient connection to the existing hospital as well as it creates external gardens towards the east. The shifting of the compact volumes ensures great views for the residents and an efficient system for the workers. Despite the complex program and large scale, the building will have an identity of a small scale village in a coherent body of architecture creating spaces for dignity.
