The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design
The National Museum is going to be a forward-looking and innovative arena for experiencing the visual arts. At the same time, it should be a safeguard for the community’s memory of these areas. With this proposal, named “Kunstens Hus,” the nation would have a unifying and worthy National Museum, which is well-exposed, extroverted, and easily accessible. The overall concept features rationality and openness that provides flexibility for the different functions. Moreover, the building consists of dramatic and challenging space sequences within a unique and very compact building. The experience of the project should be characterized by the interaction and synergy between the site’s distinctiveness, the different parts of the project, and the overall architectural expression. As a comprehensive and unique building, the museum would thus emerge as a national icon.
