The project is a contribution to the first phase of a big residential development in Ulven, 4km east of Oslo central station. The total amount of apartments is 350, with the potential of increasing it to 450. The target group is young people who buy their first apartment, and families. Our approach has been to create apartments, which are both rational and economical, in addition to some with more customized and unique architectonic solutions. The internal character of the apartments is accompanied by outdoor spaces, which offers a diverse range of atmospheres and activities. The project offers both private and shared balconies, a roof garden and varied outdoor spaces on ground level. Cafés and shops in this area will also contribute to give life to the streets.
In the Ulven Innovation project, we explore the unification of the urban and green qualities of Oslo. The result is a building complex, which expresses and offers “urban nature”. Towards the city, the building complex appears urban with its variation in form and facade expression. Towards the park, the volume steps down and becomes a part of the green environment. By working with fragmentation, the building gains a human dimension in an otherwise large volume. The project offers an urban, green and human approach, which we think should be leading the development of Ulven as a residential area in Oslo.
