Leudelange

Leudelange: A holistic residential vision integrating humanistic Nordic values.

Home to approximately 2,000 inhabitants, the commune of Leudelange in Luxembourg faces the challenge of reconciling growth with the preservation of its small-town charm.

A groundbreaking masterplan project spanning 6.5 hectares in the heart of the small town, only 15min. from Luxembourg City, is a development including 500 dwellings and seeking to transform an unbuilt field in Leudelange center into a vibrant area with limited car access, addressing the urgent need for sustainable and inclusive living spaces. Our design for the community rises to the challenge by not only offering varied typologies that will accommodate a range of needs – co-living, apartment buildings, townhouses, and villas - but also by introducing public functions that breathe life into the town, thereby mitigating its “sleepy” reputation.

At its core, Leudelange embraces Nordic humanistic values, inviting the village into its masterplan. The green passage, serving as a recreational corridor that connects the town center to its outer zones, symbolizes this inclusive approach: beyond its role as a residential development, the neighborhood aspires to be an integral part of Leudelange’ s social fabric. The development fosters a welcoming environment of inclusivity by incorporating public functions and communal spaces, inviting residents to engage with each other and with the broader community.

The project strategically addresses Luxembourg's traffic issues, recognizing the country's standing as one with the highest number of cars per capita. By implementing a car-reduced area and promoting green passages, Leudelange not only enhances the quality of life for its residents but also contributes to alleviating traffic congestion, creating a safer and more sustainable urban environment.

In summary, Leudelange is more than a collection of dwellings; it is a transformative vision that not only addresses the practical need for varied housing options while contributing to the cultural and social vitality of the town. In this way, the project reflects our commitment to creating sustainable, inclusive, and human-centric spaces that harmonize with the character of their environment.
