Site visit at De Molens Deinze, Flanders!
Happy to be back in Belgium to follow the development of “Mills of Deinze” / Liv de Molens for 3D Real Estate & ATENOR.
Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter are responsable for the Masterplan and also architects for several of the buildings now under construction.
The project materializes a meeting between Nordic perspective and continental Europe’s rich built heritage. It is a privilege to take on such a transformative project for the locality. We strive to repair the area for the future, expanding the town center from within through conservation, transformation, and addition. The formerly closed-off industrial site will offer cultural facilities, commerce, public spaces, office, and dwellings along a newly public riverside walk.
De Molens is a mixed project of 32,150 m² (residential, commercial and facilities) in the heart of Deinze, along the Leie, on the site of the former "Dossche" mills. The site, with an area of 2.14 hectares, enjoys a preferred location in the city center, near the station and the Tolpoort shopping street. Excellent accessibility both by public transport and by car makes the site particularly suitable for high-quality urban development.
The construction of the first phase is underway, with 3 new buildings (106 apartments and underground car parks) planned. Planning permission for the development of the second phase (141 apartments) was obtained in October 2022. Construction will start after the demolition of the old warehouses and after the remediation works. The third phase involves the renovation of existing buildings. The permit application for these conservation and modification works is expected to be submitted in the second quarter of 2023
