Colorful joy to Oslo

Sagene Trevare

Oslo's new color guide is ready! The guide aims to inspire readers to choose colors based on neighborhoods traditions and the city's history.

The guide is developed to advise on the importance of the interaction between color and materials, and to help professionals make conscious choices for their projects in order to respect architecture identity in Oslo’s neighborhoods. This is the Nordic region's, and perhaps Europe's, most comprehensive color guide according to Oslo's Planning and Building Agency

- Colors are particularly important for continuing or creating a place identity, for highlighting architectural uniqueness, variety and historical qualities, and for well-being and atmosphere in our common urban spaces. .

Colors are particularly important for continuing or creating a place identity, for highlighting architectural uniqueness, variety and historical qualities, and for well-being and atmosphere in our common urban spaces.

That is why we at Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter are happy to see that our project Sagene Trevare, in Sarpsborggata in the Bjølsen neighborhood of Oslo, has been chosen to illustrate a good example of this. The color scheme of the townhouses is based on the familiar color palette of Oslo’s older plaster covered brick buildings. This contributes to a more nuanced experience of the total building mass, and together with the external materials, foster a complimentary relationship with the surrounding context.
